Mount Shinmoe: Volcanic alert level has been raised to Lv. 3
On March 30th, 2025, at 3:53AM, the volcanic alert level for Mount Shinmoe has been raised from 2 (restrictions around the crater) to 3 (restrictions on entering the mountain).
However, due to decreased volcanic activity on April 2nd, 2025, the alert-radius was reduced from 4km to 3km.
We ask people to be on guard for volcanic material ejected from Mount Shinmoe’s crater within the 3km zone.

Restriction on hiking trails
As the vigilance area extends in a 4km radius from the crater of Mount Shinmoe, all hiking trails in the Kirishima Mountain Range are subject to restrictions.
