Covid-19 vaccinations for the elderly in 2024

To prevent Covid-19 from spreading, next to getting your vaccination, it is recommended to wash your hands and rinse your mouth after leaving the house, as well as to rest sufficiently and eat a balanced diet.

Implementation period

October 1st – December 31st 2024

Please note that after December 31st 2024, the expenses for the vaccination will no longer be borne by the city. Also, towards the end of the year many clinics and hospitals may be closed due to the holiday.

Target group (On the day of vaccination)

• People aged 65 and above
• People between 60 and 64 (Applies to people suffering from heart or liver disease, respiratory disfunction or immune disease, and whose disease strongly inhibits them in their daily lives.)

Number of vaccinations / Expenses

One shot per year costs 3000¥

However, for people living on benefits, the vaccination is free of charge. Please submit your recipient certificate to the hospital/clinic you are getting vaccinated at.

Things to bring

• Health insurance card, My Number card etc.
• People aged between 60 and 64 should bring their physical disability certificate (in case they possess one)
