Kobayashi city is located in central Kyushu in the
South West region of Miyazaki prefecture. To the North
lies Kumamoto prefecture and Kagoshima prefecture to
the South. Wide area transportation networks such as
National Highways 221, 265 and 268, as well as the
Miyazaki Expressway are centred around Kobayashi
connecting Miyazaki prefecture with Kagoshima and
Kumamoto cities.
The Kyushu highlands surround the city from the North
to the South West with the Kirishima mountain range
providing a source of spring water for many clean rivers.
Because of its surroundings there are large
temperature variations between day and night as well as
large differences between the summer heat and winter
cold and it is possible to see snowfall while being in
normally temperate Miyazaki.
