Kobayashi Long Distance Relay
Representative teams are divided into
elementary school area teams and junior high
school teams and competitors run for the
pride and honour of their areas. This
competition has continued for 60 years and is
a symbol of Kobayashi being a long distance
relay city.

Well known as a Sakura area, roughly 1000
Cherry Blossom trees stand in line to form a
tunnel. The Makiba No Sakura Festival is also

350,000 Rape Blossoms bring the colours of

This is a festival put on by the local residents.

The biggest event in the Nojiri area. The
unique Women's Bottom Sumo Wrestling is a
must see and later 5000 shots of fireworks

At various locations around the city you can
see Japanese Chess tournaments, Go
tournaments, tea ceremonies, Tanka poems,

performances of labour songs and dance
