Within the regions of Japan, cuisine is a very important part of Japanese culture. Kobayashi in particular is famous for its succulent Nishimoro Beef, Carp and a variety of fruits especially Pears and Grapes.
Carp and other varieties of fresh water fish are bred at Denoyama Park, a beautifully set marine park within the outskirts of Kobayashi City. Here children and adults can learn about how fish are bred and become one of Kobayashi's many delicacies.
One of the most famous specialties is Nishimoro beef. Nishimoro is the name of the western district in which Kobayashi City is set. Cattle here are raised on relatively high ground and consist mainly of black haired cows that have been reared for many years producing quality meat. Kobayashi's clean air, clear water and green pastures provide a perfect environment for dairy farming.
The fertile soil allows Pears and Grapes to grow in vast quantities. It is a common site to see families' Pear and Grape picking in the summer months.
Miyazaki prefecture itself is also famous for many dishes including Lettuce Sushi (rice, seaweed, prawn and lettuce) and Chicken Nanban (deep fried chicken in a sweet tartar sauce).
A good range of quality restaurants are available in Kobayashi City that should be suitable for all tastes.
Surrounded by the Kyushu mountain range, Suki area is considered to be the treasure of the mountains. Packed full of Chestnuts, the Chestnut Pie, and Yuzu Pepper, with its rich aromas of the Yuzu orange are local delicacies. Botan Nabe is another local delicacy that can be enjoyed by hotel guests where local vegetables, Shiitake mushrooms and Wild Boar are cooked in a flat pan.
